Man hacked to death in Amtali, Barguna
Miscreants have hacked to death a man named Mazharul Islam Monwar (40) in the Khuriar Kheya Ghat area of Amtali Upazila, Barguna. The tragic incident occurred around 12:15 AM on Wednesday. The deceased, Monwar, was the son of Muhammad Joynal Mridha from Dakshin Amtali village.
According to police and local sources, locals heard screams near the canal bank adjacent to Aziz Mridha’s rice mill, on the west side of the Khuriar Kheya Ghat bridge in Amtali Sadar Union. Upon reaching the spot, they found Monwar lying in a pool of blood.
The locals rescued him in critical condition and rushed him to the Amtali Upazila Health Complex, where the attending physician declared him dead.
Dr. Shubhendu Roy, a physician at the Amtali Upazila Health Complex, stated that the victim had died before reaching the hospital. Deep wounds from sharp weapons were found on both of his legs. It is primarily suspected that he died due to excessive bleeding.
The victim’s younger sister, Shahinur, said, “I demand exemplary punishment for those who brutally murdered my brother.” The incident has sparked a sensation in the area, and police have launched an investigation.
